TRAVEL GUIDES
How to check travel adapters and voltage separately
Check plug shape, device input voltage and frequency, grounding and ratings as separate travel preparations.
Answers for your trip
Is an appliance ready to use if its plug fits?
Physical fit alone is not enough. Electrical Safety First states that travel adapters do not convert voltage or frequency. Compare your device’s INPUT label with the destination supply, then check grounding and the adapter’s maximum current or power rating.

What should I compare with a 100–240V input label?
Check whether the destination voltage falls within the device’s stated input range, and read its frequency specification separately. This site compares the numerical ranges you enter; it does not certify physical compatibility or electrical safety. Do not guess when a label is unreadable.

Does Japan’s electricity supply vary by region?
JNTO describes Japan’s voltage as 100V, with 50Hz in the east and 60Hz in the west. Compare the regional frequency with your device label and confirm the actual socket and grounding arrangements with your accommodation.
